Why disable WiFi on a router?

Wi-Fi routers are a considerable source of electromagnetic pollution in many homes. And since most people keep their routers turned on 24/7, this results in a significant level of cumulative continuous EMF exposure.
The number one reason consumers seek to turn off WiFi on a router is when going out of town, as it is always recommended to turn off WiFi on a router before going out of town for a period of time. Disabling Wi-Fi from a wireless home router may not be as simple as disabling it from a phone or computer. Some routers have a physical button that disables Wi-Fi. If your router does, pressing it will immediately turn off the wireless signal.
How to Disable Wi-Fi on a Router
This process varies depending on the make and model of your router, such as when learning how to block a MAC address on a router. With that in mind, we’ve kept these guidelines as universal as possible.
Step 1:
Some routers have a physical switch or button that disables WiFi.first to check the exterior of your device for such a button.If it exists, tap or hold it and skip the next steps.
Step 2:
Make sure your router is connected to your modem via an Ethernet cable and that both devices are working normally. Your next step is to go to the administration control panel or settings page.
Step 3:
This is done in several ways, although you can usually do this by typing the router’s public IP address (static IP address) into the address bar of a web browser. Otherwise, open the dedicated firmware software or access a mobile application created by the manufacturer.
Step 4 :
Once you can access the settings and various control functions, look for an option to turn off the router’s wireless connection. This can be on the normal settings page or in the advanced settings. Click to disable and save your changes.
Disabling Wi-Fi on the Modem Router
The local broadband router consists of three devices
- A NAT router: This is the path of an Internet connection that reaches a single real IP address. In addition, this device shares it with a local network managed by it.
- A network switch: It helps various devices connect to the local network provided by the router via an Ethernet cable.
- A wireless access point: It helps various devices connect wirelessly to the local network of the router.
Disable Wi-Fi on Airport Extreme or Apple Airport Time Capsule
- Access the Airport Utility menu and disable Wi-Fi.
- Now go to Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility.
- Click on your base station, then select Edit.
- If prompted, enter your base station administrator password.
- Next, click on the Wireless option.
- A context menu will appear with network mode.
- Select Off.
- Finally, click Update and the new changes will be applied to the router once it restarts.
Disable Via the management site
- Connect your computer/phone to the router’s Wi-Fi {check the nameplate on the bottom of the router}, default Wi-Fi name, no password, or connect the computer to the LAN port of the router using an Ethernet cable. Then enter the default IP address in the address bar of the browser to connect to the web management page of the router {please refer to the nameplate on the bottom of the router for the default IP address}.
- Click My Wi-Fi. Click the Wi-Fi switch to enable or disable Wi-Fi for your router.
- You can also turn off 5GHz Priority (or Auto Tri-Band Switch) to turn off your 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi respectively.
- When you turn off Wi-Fi, you can select After restarting, your router will automatically turn on Wi-Fi. So the next time you restart your router, the Wi-Fi function will be automatically turned on.
- When the router’s Wi-Fi is disabled, your phone, tablet, or laptop will not be able to connect to your router. You can enable Wi-Fi by restarting your router.
- If you have disabled your router’s Wi-Fi through the web management page and selected After restart, your router will automatically enable Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi will automatically be enabled when you restart your router.
Disable Wi-Fi on Belkin Router
- First, open a web browser on your PC.
- Then click on the address field present at the top of your desktop screen.
- Now enter http://router or 192.168.2.1 {the router’s default IP address} and press Enter. Always make sure that this device must be connected to your Belkin router’s WiFi network.
- Next, tap on the sign-in option present at the top right of your desktop screen.
- There, click on the Password field and enter your router’s password.
- Click Submit. For unconfigured routers, do not enter the password; click Send directly.
- Now click on Channel and SSID. If you have a Belkin Wireless-G router, navigate to the Wireless option and click Disable.
- Look for the Wireless Mode option. Once you find it, open the drop-down menu icon and click Disable. For example, if you have a Belkin Wireless-G router, go to the Channel & SSID option and find Wireless Mode. Then open the drop-down menu and click Disable.
- Finally, choose Apply Changes.
Disable Wi-Fi on TP-Link Router
- Start by opening a web browser on your PC.
- Then click on the address option present at the top of your desktop screen.
- Enter your router’s IP address, 192.168.1.1, and click Enter. The next screen will be Login.
- Now type your username and password in the respective fields to log in. If you haven’t configured your router yet, you can enter admin in both fields.
- Next, go to the Basic tab and click on the Wireless option.
- Look for the Enable wireless radio option and uncheck the options for frequency bands, 4 GHz and 5 GHz.
- Finally, click Save.
Disable Wi-Fi on D-Link Router
- First, launch a web browser on your desktop.
- Then click on the address section present at the top of your desktop screen.
- Now enter the default IP address of your router 192.168.0.1 and click Enter key.
- Then type admin as username and password if prompted. D-Link routers default password is blank.
- Next, click on the Settings option present at the top of your desktop screen.
- Then navigate to the current wireless settings on the left side of your desktop screen.
- Find Manual Wireless Network Setup at the bottom of the screen and click on it.
- Now find Enable wireless option and uncheck the box.
- Finally, click Save Settings.
Disable Wi-Fi on Linksys Router
- First, you need to launch any web browser on your device.
- Next, click on the address option present at the top of your desktop screen.
- Now type 192.168.1.1 or my router. local and click Enter.
- Finally, you will need to choose to access your modem router directly or through your Linksys Cloud account.
- Directly – through this route, you will need to enter your password on the access router. Admin is the default password.
- Linksys Cloud Account – This will prompt you to click “To sign in with your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi account, click here.” After clicking on this option, provide your account email address and password.
- Now search for Smart Wi-Fi Tools and go to Wireless.
- The next step is to locate the current network next to the network name.
- Click Disable to disable the network. repeat the process to deactivate
